Please note that PoissyWeb reserves the right to reject any content for any reason at our sole discretion. While we may not identify problematic content before it goes live, content will be blocked post-launch if we feel it compromises the safety or quality of our network.   • High-Risk Investments or Business Scams
  • Content which encourages high risk investments or money making schemes with the intention of profiting off user participation

Information Harvesting

  • Content that harvests personal and/or confidential information from users with the intent to distribute or engages in lead generation with the purpose of generating profit off information gathered

Malware

  • Contains adware, malware, spyware, virus, Trojan horses, or other features designed to infiltrate or damage computer systems or access personally identifiable user information without explicit user consent

Negative Earned Media

  • Direct competitors cannot promote negative earned media or content that defames or otherwise compromises an industry competitor without clear disclosure

Tone

  • Content that promotes hate, violence, or discrimination;
  • Defames an individual, organization, or group of people; or
  • Segregates or classifies individuals or groups of people by race, religion, or sexuality

Restricted Content

PoissyWeb reserves the right to block content from the following groups and categories. Restrictions may vary depending on the region your campaign targets, the value provided to the reader, and the quality of the content.

  • Adult

Content that is explicitly sexual in nature

  • Alcohol

Content that promotes underage or irresponsible drinking; sites that enable the sale of alcoholic beverages

  • Financial services

Content must comply with financial governing bodies

  • Gambling
  • Health services

Promoted products and services must be approved by a governmental body when appropriate; products and services may not make illegitimate or unproven claims about results.

  • Political advertisements

All political content must have clear disclosure (ie. Promoted By [Political Party])

  • Overly personal or niche content

Content must have broad cultural appeal and/or be of value to more than just content creator

  • Religion

Content cannot advocate for or promote one religion over another; publishers may also choose to block content from religious domains

  • Subscriber-only content

User Experience

Content should provide a positive, value-adding experience for users.

Advertising Policies

  • Content should not employ any misleading advertising techniques, including but not limited to: using deceptive practices to encourage continuity sign-ups; encouraging accidental clicks by implementing ads that appear to be organic content; utilizing fake comments that appear to be from real individuals; or employing unsubstantiated claims to promote a product or service
  • If the primary goal of the content is to generate a lead or a sale, PoissyWeb requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of such (ie. a prominent “Advertorial” or “Advertisement” label must appear at the top of the page)
  • Submissions may not contain exit popups or advertisements that cover or hide portions of the content
  • Affiliate marketing sites must clearly disclose any financial relationship between the host site and sponsoring advertiser in accordance with FTC guidelines

Authenticity

  • Content cannot be copied from another site. Any plagiarized content without clear disclosure of authorship will not be allowed.
  • Content must clearly display logo of website; content should not include trademarks or logos that are confusingly similar in design to that of third parties
  • Links in content must be labeled accurately and must link to the page or pages reasonably expected by the reader

Design

  • No grainy or improperly formatted images
  • No illegible fonts or copy

Editorial Standards

  • No improper spelling or capitalization
  • No incorrect language or grammar
  • Coherence in structure

Page Format

  • We do not accept traditional 30-second commercial spots that end in a call-to-action to promote the sale of a product or service
  • We do not accept home pages, directory listings, or traditional product sale pages
  • Content must live on HTML page (no PDFs)
  • Content cannot require a login for access
  • Content must be the primary focus of the page and live above the fold. Calls-to-action, forms or sales copy must not detract from the content itself.
  • Page must contain clear organic navigation, including but not limited to easily locatable Contact and About Us pages

Timeliness

  • News content older than 14 days cannot be added to our network

Headline Guideline

When creating additional titles for your content, please ensure all new titles accurately reflect the tone and subject matter of your content. Headlines will be rejected if they attempt to mislead or falsely entice readers.

Inaccurate, Misleading, or Overly Sensational Headlines

  • Does not accurately depict the content
  • Exaggerates or embellishes the content
  • Employs sexual/violent/explicit language that sensationalizes content

“Too good to be true” headlines

  • If it sounds too good to be true, it is
    • “One weird trick that will help you lose that belly fat”
    • “Mom reveals clever $4 wrinkle therapy, makes doctors furious”

Calls to action

  • Registration pleas, sales offers
    • “CLICK NOW to find out which new driving rule has drivers shocked!”

Please adhere to the following grammar, punctuation, and style regulations when submitting titles.

Capitalization

  • Capitalize the first word of the title/heading and of any subtitle/subheading
  • Capitalize all major words in the title, including the second part of hyphenated major words (e.g., Self-Report not Self-report)
  • No excessive capitalization or inter-capitalization, such as words or phrases in all capitals (exceptions include trademarked brand names, acronyms, and common abbreviations)

Grammar

  • Observe correct verb tenses, subject-verb agreements, and spelling
  • Use correct spacing (e.g. no missing or excessive spaces between words or punctuation)

Punctuation & Symbols

  • Refrain from inappropriate, aggressive, or tasteless punctuation in headlines
  • Do not use periods at the end of headlines
  • Repeated punctuation (?!?!) or symbols are not permitted
  • Do not include a price point in headlines

 Image Guidelines

Any images being promoted in PoissyWeb's widget must meet the following standards of network appropriateness.

Thumbnail images cannot include:

  • Nudity or sexual imagery
  • Weapons
  • Drugs or drug paraphernalia
  • Imagery that is designed to provoke or offend
  • Violence or gore
  • Graphic images of physical deformities or health conditions

Quality & Appearance

All images must be relevant to the linked content. Images must be clear, recognizable, and properly oriented. Images that have been altered with Photoshop or other graphic editing softwares will not be permitted.

"Trick to Click"

Images cannot employ deceptive practices to entice a user to click. These include:

  • Images that pretend to be a system or site warning
  • Images that use sensational tactics that are not relevant to the source material

Our History

The Etiquette School of New York in Manhattan was founded by Patricia Napier-Fitzpatrick ten years ago.  Ms. Napier-Fitzpatrick is an internationally-recognized etiquette expert. She has been featured in Business Week, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, New York Post, the New York Daily News, Time Out New Yorkam New York, and numerous other publications. She has appeared on CNN, WNBC, WABC, and WCBS; and she has participated in special BBC and NPR radio programs..

Ms. Napier-Fitzpatrick founded The Etiquette School of New York in Manhattan to help foster the ideals of proper etiquette, good manners, and civil behavior. ”We are not free to merely act as we please; but we must act with mutual consideration, as befits our interdependence,” says Dorothea Johnson, founder of The Protocol School of Washington. Although the spirit of etiquette remains the same, the expression of etiquette–the rules of conduct which govern social life and our associations with one another–is forever evolving to adjust to the times.

Good manners are not only indispensable in society, but they have a very practical value in the business world. In today’s global business environment, as well as today’s culturally diverse workplace, individuals who know the rules of business etiquette and international protocol, and are able to handle social situations with poise and grace, are more likely to be successful in their endeavors. Simple Ways to Master the Art of Networking

Don’t bother with your business card; networking success comes from building real relationships.

You arrive alone. Your heart is beating a little faster than normal and suddenly all of your charisma and charm go out the window. You try to lock eyes with someone so that you can find a temporary home in what can feel like a sea of strangers. But everyone looks happily engaged in conversation.

While this might sound like your experience at a middle school dance, it’s also what many people feel when they enter a networking event. These are completely natural reactions, even for the biggest extroverts. The great news is that people go to these events to meet strangers, so you’re in the same position as everyone else. Here are 17 helpful tips for navigating a networking event and making the most of your time there:

  1. Find the bar! Whether or not you’re drinking, it’s always a great idea to position yourself at the edge of the bar. Many people run for the bar when they get to a networking event in order to get a short respite from an overwhelming entrance. If you position yourself a few steps from the bar, you can easily strike up a conversation as people turn with drink in hand.
  2. Be yourself. Networking events are meant as jumping-off points for relationship building. If you can’t be yourself, you’ll be starting off these new relationships with a lie. Don’t try to be the person you think others want to meet. Be genuine. The people you connect with when you are authentic are the ones you’ll want to stay in touch with.
  3. Set reasonable expectations. When attending an event, understand what you are there to do. Is your goal to feel out a new organization and get to know the vibe? Is it to meet five new people? Is it to meet one or two specific people? These are all reasonable expectations and it takes a little pre-planning to set these goals.
  4. Don’t spread yourself too thin. Start by spreading a large net to test out a handful of organizations and then commit yourself to a only a few as time goes on. You want to become a staple at these events. When you bounce around to too many events where no one knows you, you’re doing yourself a disservice by having to build your brand from scratch in each environment. You’ll also find that networking is a lot more fun when you become a regular. People will sing your praises to new attendees (this is always better than you doing it yourself) and you’ll see lots of familiar faces.
  5. Take notes. When you ask for someone’s card after having a great conversation, take notes on their business card after they walk away or immediately after the event. This will help you to be more specific in your follow-up.
  6. Introduce yourself to the organizer. A great way to get to know more about an organization and who is involved is to seek out the event organizer and introduce yourself. He/she can then help point you in the right direction and can introduce you to other attendees to get you off on the right foot.
  7. Treat people like friends. Would you go to a friend, interrupt his/her conversation, hand over a business card, talk about yourself and then walk away? Of course not. Treat new networking relationships as you’d treat your friendships. Build rapport and trust that business will happen.
  8. Ask great questions. The only way to get to know someone else is to ask them genuine and thoughtful questions. It’s always best to walk away from a conversation having allowed the other person to speak more than you did. Not only will they feel great about the conversation, but you’ll have gotten to know a lot about him/her, helping you plan and execute your follow-up more thoughtfully.
  9. Sharing is caring. This is no less true now than it was in kindergarten. If you are willing to share your contacts and resources, others will be more likely to help you as well. Develop a sincerity in your giving nature without expectation of something in return.
  10. Consider their network. When meeting people, it’s important to remember that even if they can’t help you directly, someone in their network probably can.
  11. Treat connecting like a puzzle. If you’re asking great questions and considering how you can help others, you’ll naturally start to draw connections between who you are talking to and others in your network. Offer to make these connections! Perhaps they are two people who have the same target client industry, or maybe you know that a contact of yours is looking for the service the other provides. Encourage both parties to follow up with you after they meet so that you can hear what came of their interaction. It will not only pay dividends for you, it will also help you hone your matchmaking skills.
  12. Don’t be a card spammer. The closest thing to you throwing all of your business cards away is handing them out to anyone and everyone you meet without them asking. If you haven’t built enough rapport with someone to encourage them to ask for your card, don’t offer one.
  13. Be specific. The more specific you can be about what you do and what others can do to help you (if they ask), the better. Tell them the names of a few specific companies you’re looking to work with.
  14. Ask yourself why they should care. Consider why the person you’re speaking to should care about what you’re saying. Craft your conversations accordingly. You only have a short time to make an impression, so try to make it favorable.
  15. Be engaged. Keep eye contact with your conversation partner. Nod your head and tilt your body towards them when you’re speaking. These small cues go a long way towards making them feel like you care, which helps you to build rapport and trust: the foundation on which you can later do business.
  16. Do NOT “work the room.” Don’t try to meet as many people as possible in a room; focus on making just a few solid connections. People can sense when you’re simply speaking with them to grab their card and go. These short interactions will not be memorable and therefore work against you. Aim to meet a few people and begin a meaningful dialogue.
  17. Don’t be afraid to join in. There is nothing wrong with joining a conversation and waiting for a natural break in the chatter to introduce yourself. In most cases, the people who are already speaking will enjoy the interruption because it gives them a chance to meet someone new. If you sense that you’ve entered into a serious discussion, it’s okay to politely excuse yourself.

Now you’re prepared to rock your next networking event and hopefully build some meaningful relationships in the process. And remember; do talk to strangers!
